Bed gap by Continuum of Care

Counties with none listed
The largest counties where HUD's inventory lists no year-round emergency bed, with the distance from the county's center to the nearest listed shelter.
How these are measured
Bed gap. For each Continuum of Care: the people counted unsheltered on the count night, minus the emergency shelter beds that were empty that night. It is the number of people who would still have been outside if every empty bed had been filled, so the true gap is at least this large. A bed for a family cannot take a single adult, which this figure does not adjust for.
Districts. Districts are those of the 119th Congress. A project is placed by its located building. A project with no single building is placed only when its whole county lies inside one district. Population is the state's 2024 population divided evenly across its districts.
County types. Counties with at least one year-round emergency bed are grouped by seven measured features of their supply, using k-means with six groups. Each type is described by the two features that set it furthest from the national average. The grouping describes supply as HUD recorded it. It does not rank counties.
